CREST was founded in Taiwan in 2017 and develops dive computers and equipment, drawing on its work in decompression theory. The CR-5L is a light watch-style computer for scuba, freediving and gas diving that can be worn all week, not just on dive days. The CR-5L is Crest's lighter colour dive computer, 75 g on the wrist, with a 3.1 cm sunlight-readable colour screen that stays clear on a bright boat deck. It runs scuba, freediving, gauge and dive planning modes, plus a technical mode for nitrox from 21 to 99%, multi-gas and trimix. GPS, an electronic compass and a dive navigation mode help find the way back to an entry point, and more than 9,000 dive sites are stored on the watch. That makes it a good fit for a holiday diver who wants one watch for the reef and the rest of the week, a freediver logging depth sessions, and a diver taking a first step into decompression gases. This is the Light Wave colour, white with a turquoise ring. It suits a diver who wants a light colour-screen computer to wear every day.

Features

Display: colour, sunlight readable, backlit, 3.1 cm

Dive modes: scuba, freediving, gauge, dive planning, technical, dive navigation

Gases: air, nitrox 21 to 99%, multi-gas and trimix

Sensors: GPS, electronic compass, optical heart rate

Dive sites: more than 9,000 built in

Log: more than 1,000 dives

Depth rating: 10 ATM, 100 m

Battery: rechargeable lithium-ion, 300+ charge cycles, about 85% in 1 hour

Weight: 75 g

Colour: Light Wave, white with a turquoise ring

Warranty: 1 year from Crest

What's Included

CR-5L dive computer in Light Wave

Description

A rechargeable dive computer is only as useful as the charger that goes with it, and the one left plugged in at home is the one that ends a trip early. This is Crest's own charging set for the CR-5 and CR-5L: a charging clip that grips the computer and connects to its contacts, on a USB cable 50 cm long, weighing 25 g in all. A spare is worth packing in a travel bag so the computer can be charged in a hotel room while the original stays by the bed, kept on a boat for topping up between dives, or left in the office drawer of a diver who charges at work. It plugs into any USB port or adapter. It does not fit the CR-4, which uses a different charger. Crest's Zulu Wonderland strap is a woven nylon strap made for the CR-5, and it also fits the CR-5L. This one is the Circus colour, a bright orange that makes the computer easy to spot on a dive deck or in a kit bag. The stainless steel buckle and loops shrug off salt water, and the long nylon tail adjusts over a thin wetsuit or bare skin.
