Aqua Lung turned it forward, so the water arriving at the top closes it rather than pushing past it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA valve that closes faster is a valve that lets less water in, and a snorkel that takes on no water needs no clearing. That counts for most in the conditions where a dry snorkel earns its price: chop on the surface, a boat wake, a swell breaking over the head while waiting for a pickup. Underneath the valve the barrel keeps the low breathing resistance the Impulse is known for, so it does not trade air flow for dryness the way heavier dry tops do.
