Tusa in South Africa
Tusa was founded by Kazuo Tabata in Tokyo, Japan, in 1952, starting with handmade masks and goggles. Its parent company, Tabata, designs and builds to ISO 9001 in Japan and Taiwan. Masks, fins and snorkel sets are where most of the Tusa range in the shop sits, with a few BCDs and regulators behind them.
Masks and fins
The Freedom HD is a single-lens mask with a wide field of view and Tusa's Freedom Buckle, which rotates through 180 degrees. The Freedom Ceos, Intega and Paragon take Tusa corrective lenses. Hyflex fins use a polyurethane blade for a quick, snappy kick, alongside the Solla and X-Pert Zoom Z3. Fit on the face decides more than the spec sheet, so try masks on in the shop, or browse masks and fins.
BCDs, regulators and kids' kit
The Liberator BCD moves weight off the belt into front-loading cartridges, and the BB React, Crestline and Tina round out the BCDs. The RS1001 pairs a cold-water balanced diaphragm first stage with a simple second stage. Kleio and Mini Kleio sets fit younger snorkellers, under junior and kids' snorkelling. Items marked Special Order are ordered in after purchase.
