About Scuba Evolution

Scuba Evolution opened in Glenvista in 2014 as a PADI 5-Star Dive Centre. The whole PADI path, from Discover Scuba to the Instructor Development Course, runs through one centre. The gear store and the service counter share one address in Glenvista, and pool sessions run in a heated indoor pool in Fourways. A diver can take a first breath underwater on a Tuesday and come back on Saturday for a mask that fits.

Our courses run from Discover Scuba to the Instructor Development Course, with Open Water, Advanced, Rescue, the specialities, technical diving and Divemaster in between. Classes stay at four students per instructor. Theory is PADI eLearning, done at home before the pool sessions. Dates are set around work and family, not a term calendar. Open water dives happen at Bass Lake or Miracle Waters, or in the sea on request. Tec training runs at Komati Springs, and can also be done at Aliwal Shoal and Sodwana.

We carry Scubapro, Apeks, Aqualung, Garmin, Shearwater and more, plus freediving, snorkelling and swim ranges. Everything on the shelf is genuine new stock with the manufacturer's warranty behind it. Masks, fins and suits get fitted in store before they leave. After the sale, the same counter takes in regulators, BCDs and cylinders for servicing and testing, and changes dive computer batteries. Fills are air or nitrox, and every nitrox mix is analysed and logged before the cylinder leaves.

A card is where diving starts. The logged dives are what make the diver, so we also arrange dive trips. Closer to home that means Sodwana Bay, Aliwal Shoal and Mozambique, and further out the Maldives, the Red Sea and Indonesia. Shark trips too. Scuba Evolution is a DAN Southern Africa Industry Partner. Joining meant writing an Emergency Assistance Plan for every place we dive: the shop, the heated pool in Fourways, Bass Lake, Miracle Waters and our coastal trips. Emergency oxygen goes to every dive site we set up, and our instructors' first aid and emergency oxygen training is current.

Open Water students get free DAN Student Dive Cover for the course. You register with Divers Alert Network Southern Africa (DAN) before your first pool session, using the link and instructor details we send you. It costs you nothing because DAN pays for it, and it lasts until your final qualifying dive or six weeks, whichever comes first.
