Devon opened Scuba Evolution in Glenvista in 2014 and built it as a PADI 5 Star IDC Centre from day one, a shop that trains instructors, not only divers. IDC status sits above what most dive shops ever reach.
Four students per instructor, held across the whole team. A heated indoor pool with enough depth for an actual confined-water certification dive. Genuine stock on the shelves, no grey imports, ever. Scuba Training
Four to one is the number everything else sits underneath. It's why the pool needed heating and depth in the first place: a small class means real time with each diver, working through mask-clearing or a shaky first breath underwater, instead of moving on because the schedule says it's time. The range runs from Discover Scuba through Instructor, every PADI specialty, technical diving including rebreather and cave, EFR first aid, and junior courses for younger divers. Theory's e-learning, done before you arrive. No course expires. It runs on your calendar, not a term date.
Gear and Advice
The shop stocks Scubapro, Apeks, Aqualung, Garmin, Xdeep, Shearwater, and more, alongside freediving, snorkelling, and swimwear. None of it gets recommended without a straight answer to the actual question: not what's newest, what's actually right for the diving being done. Orders over R1,000 ship free, no code needed. Equipment Servicing
The no-grey-imports rule extends past the shelf and into the workshop. Every service job, whatever the brand, goes to the original manufacturer's agent rather than getting opened up on the retail floor. True of a Scubapro first stage bought here, just as much as an Apeks octopus bought somewhere else years ago. Original parts, every time: the difference between a warranty that still applies and one that quietly stopped the moment somebody used the wrong tool on it.
Dive Travel
Once a diver's certified and equipped, the next question is usually where to use it. Local trips get matched to a certification level: someone fresh out of Open Water isn't diving the same site as someone with forty dives logged. International trips take longer to plan, usually built around a specific season or site window. Either way, the trip gets planned around the divers actually going, not pulled off a brochure. Travel insurance is available through a third-party partner at booking.
