Hand Compass

Description

Most dive computers carry a digital compass, yet technical and cave divers still choose a separate analogue one, because it needs no battery, no menu and no calibration when the line is lost in poor visibility. The Mares Hand Compass is built for that use. The capsule is oversized so the card can be read without bringing it close to the mask, it reads from the front and through a side window, and the dial is luminescent for night, cave and silty conditions. Extra long elastomer bungee straps let it sit on a wrist over any suit thickness, from a tropical shortie to a drysuit with a thick undergarment. A night dive back to an anchor line, a cavern swim in low light and a navigation exercise in green water all benefit from a compass that is large and plain. This version is balanced for the southern hemisphere. It suits a technical or experienced diver who navigates without a screen.
