Description

The two places a dive boot wears out are the toe, from walking, and the heel, from a fin strap grinding against it, and both are reinforced here rather than left to the neoprene. That is what decides how many seasons a boot lasts. The Ultra Span is a 5 mm boot with a non-slip sole made for use with open-heel fins, which is the fitment that matters, since a fin strap needs a heel shaped to hold it rather than a soft rounded one it can climb off. The non-slip sole does its work on the walk to the water, on a wet slipway or a rock shelf, more than it does in it. Six sizes run from XS to 2XL, in black. Cressi publish no further detail on the lining or seam construction, so nothing more is claimed here. That answers a shore dive, a boat entry and a cold-water session. It suits a diver using open-heel fins.
