Description

Once a photographer has owned more than one camera or more than one strobe, the housing and the flash rarely come from the same maker. This adapter is what keeps an optical sync setup working across that mix, fitting a SeaLife fibre optic cable to housings and strobes without SeaLife's own optical port. Optical triggering is preferred underwater because it needs no electrical bulkhead through the housing, and a housing with one less hole in it is a housing with one less flooding point; the adapter keeps that advantage when the equipment is mixed. A strobe then survives a change of camera, and a housing survives a change of strobe, with neither decision hanging on a connector. Check the housing has a flash window an optical fibre can be aimed at before ordering, since not every one does, and note that a camera with its internal flash disabled will not drive an optical sync whatever the adapter. It suits a photographer running mixed-brand camera and strobe.
