Silicone or SMP adhesive?
For a watertight, flexible seal, the Marine Silicone Sealant Clear 280 ml is a one-part acetoxy silicone that also suits fish tanks and aquariums. It isn't for concrete, natural stone or metals such as mild steel, copper and brass. Where something has to be bonded and sealed, and the hull will flex, use Simson MSR Construction Adhesive SSKF. It's an SMP adhesive developed for yacht and boat building, certified to the IMO fire test for surface flammability, with no solvents or isocyanates. The 290 ml cartridge suits a few fittings or a hatch, and the 600 ml sausage in white or black suits deck-to-hull joints or a bigger refit.
Preparing the surface
Most bonds fail because of the surface, not the glue. Cleaner I Cleaner and Degreaser 2.5 L takes oil and grease off metal, glass and other non-porous surfaces before bonding; let it dry about five minutes. Simson Prep G Plus Black Primer 250 ml is a one-step pre-treatment for glass, polycarbonate and aluminium. An opened bottle shouldn't be reused, so plan the job around it.
At home
Bath Silicone Sealant White 280 ml is a sanitary silicone with a fungicide to resist mould, for showers, basins and baths. The same limits apply: not for concrete, plaster, marble, mirrors or mild steel, copper and brass.

Should I use silicone or Simson MSR on a deck fitting?
Simson MSR Construction Adhesive SSKF is made to bond and seal in boat building and stays elastic as the hull moves. Bostik Marine silicone gives a flexible watertight seal but is mainly a sealant.
