Scuba Gear Servicing
Scuba Evolution in Glenvista takes in regulators, BCDs, cylinders and dive computers for servicing, testing and battery changes, from any brand. Every service job goes to the manufacturer's appointed agent, which is what most manufacturer warranties expect, and most services take about two weeks. Bring your kit in during trading hours. You don't need an appointment.
What we take in
Regulators. Most makers set the service interval by time, usually every one or two years depending on the model, and many tie the warranty to that interval being kept and recorded. A regulator that sat in a cupboard still needs it: seats take a set under spring pressure whether or not anyone dives them. Book the first stage, both second stages and the BCD in together, since they share hoses.
BCDs. Once a year, or after a season of diving. The service strips and rebuilds the inflator and checks the dump valves. Then the bladder gets a pressure test and stands overnight, because a slow leak shows up over hours, not minutes. A bladder, valve or hose that needs replacing is quoted before any work is done.
Cylinders. A cylinder needs a current visual inspection and a current hydrostatic test before it can be filled. Under SANS 10019 the visual inspection is due every two years and the hydrostatic test every four. We book both for you with an accredited test station. A visual that finds water inside usually leads to a chemical clean as well, which is quoted separately.
Dive computers and transmitters. Battery changes with a new o-ring every time, because the seal decides whether the computer survives its next dive. Transmitters often need pairing again after a battery change, and we do that before you collect.
How it works
- Bring your kit to Shop U44, Glenvista Shopping Centre, during trading hours.
- We log it and send each item to its maker's appointed agent.
- Anything beyond the standard service is quoted before work starts.
- We call or WhatsApp you when it's ready to collect, usually about two weeks later.
Trading hours
Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00. Saturday 09:00 to 16:00. Sunday 09:00 to 13:00. Public holidays 09:00 to 13:00. Closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday, 25 and 26 December and 1 January.
