Description

Smallest of the steel cylinders stocked here, and the one to reach for when the walk to the water is part of the dive. At working pressure it holds 2320 litres of free air, which is the figure to compare against any other size or pressure rather than the litres on the label. Because steel occupies less volume than aluminium for the same water capacity, this is noticeably shorter and slimmer than an aluminium 11, which is what makes it workable for a smaller diver, a shore entry with a hike, or a stage bottle on a longer dive. Faber draw their cylinders from high quality steel plate rather than assembling them, so there is no weld in the body, and steel is free of the sustained load cracking that shortens the life of some aluminium cylinders drawn from AA6351 and AA6082. Steel corrodes from the inside if water gets in, so keeping the visual inspection current is not optional. It suits a smaller diver or a walk-in shore entry.
