Big Blue AL1300 Strobe

Description

A torch beam shows where a diver is looking, not where they are, which is why a diver who turns away vanishes on a night dive. A strobe does the opposite job: the AL1300 throws 1300 lumens across a 270 degree beam, so it is visible from almost any direction rather than only from in front. Twelve hours of run time means it can be switched on at the start of a dive day and left, and at 168 grams with the cell fitted it is light enough to clip to a cylinder valve or a shoulder strap and forget. The LED runs 6500K cool white from a rechargeable 18650 cell, in an anodised aluminium alloy housing tested to 100 metres, sitting 76 grams negative in the water. That answers a night dive, a shot line in poor visibility and a surface marker after dark. It suits a diver who needs to be seen rather than to see.
