Description

For a drysuit diver the extra cylinder weight is not a penalty, it is ballast that would otherwise be sitting on a belt. That is worth knowing before dismissing this as simply the heavy option. It holds 3480 litres of free air at working pressure, roughly a quarter more than a 12 litre for a modest increase in length, which is the answer for divers whose gas consumption ends the dive well before the no-decompression limit does. Faber draw it from high quality steel plate, giving a body with no weld and a wall thickness kept as light as the rating allows, and because steel takes up less volume than aluminium for the same water capacity, a steel 15 is closer in size to an aluminium 12 than the numbers suggest. It is free of sustained load cracking. It is still heavier to carry to a shore entry, which is the trade against the extra gas. It suits a drysuit diver or anyone who runs out of air first.
