Big Blue Nine Inch Flexi Arm

Description

Backscatter is a geometry problem. Particles lit from beside the lens bounce light straight back into it, and the fix is to move the light away from the lens axis and angle it inwards so the beams cross in front of the port rather than in the water column being photographed. That takes reach, which is what nine inches provides over the seven inch version. Being flexible rather than segmented, it bends anywhere along its length and holds where it is left, so the aim is set by hand in a second instead of by loosening a clamp, moving a segment and hoping it stays put against the drag of a swimming diver. It closes on standard fittings at each end. That answers wide-angle work, murky water and a rig re-aimed on every subject. It suits a photographer who needs reach and wants to aim by hand.
