AL1200WP-IR Infrared Wide Beam Light

Description

This is the wide-beam version of Big Blue's infrared light, and the 85 degree spread is what makes it the one for filming rather than spotting. Infrared at 940 nanometres is invisible to the human eye and to most marine life, so a camera with an infrared-sensitive sensor records a lit scene while the animals behave as though nothing were there, which is the only way to film nocturnal behaviour that white light disrupts on contact. Four levels run 2 hours at full output, then 4, 8 and 20 hours, from a rechargeable 18650 cell. It weighs 168 grams with the cell fitted, sits 76 grams negative, and is tested to 100 metres. It produces no visible light at all, so a separate torch is still required to navigate. It suits a wildlife videographer lighting a wide frame without disturbing the subject.
