Amika Fins

Description

A long fin is more efficient in open water and completely impractical everywhere else, which is the compromise most snorkellers end up making badly. The Amika uses Pivot-Flex technology to shorten the blade without losing the drive: the flex point is engineered so a shorter blade still loads and releases like a longer one. That keeps the fin manageable on a boat ladder, in a rock entry and in a suitcase. Water flow channels run through the blade to cut the resistance on the recovery stroke, which is where fatigue actually comes from on a long swim, and the blade is a dual composite rather than one plastic, so the stiff and soft sections do different jobs. The foot pocket is soft, on bungee straps that go on and off without a buckle. It suits a snorkeller or holiday diver who wants an efficient fin that packs.
