Arrow Monster

Description

In a silt-out the light shows nothing and the line is the sole reference, so a marker has to be readable by hand. An arrow carries its information twice, as a shape the eye picks up in clear water and as a point the fingers find in zero visibility, which is exactly when the information is worth most. These are placed on a guideline at jumps, gaps and junctions, pointing towards the nearest exit, so a team can unwind a maze on the way out using markers placed on the way in. Ten come threaded on a bungee cord with a stainless steel bolt snap, which means the set clips to a harness D-ring as one item rather than being counted out of a pocket, and the cord keeps the rest together while one is taken off and placed. This is cave and wreck equipment and does nothing on an open water dive. Arrows carry direction only; the Cookie Monster records passage. It suits a technical diver working an overhead environment.
