Apeks ATX Octopus

Description

A backup regulator only matters on the dive it is needed, and that is precisely the dive on which a cheap one will disappoint. The ATX octopus is the ATX second stage, fully balanced, in a high visibility yellow front cover on a 36 inch yellow hose. On an out of gas ascent the receiver gets the same breathe the primary delivers rather than a stiffer, cheaper stage. On a cold water dive it is rated for water below ten degrees, so it does not become the weak point of the rig. On a boat the yellow hose and cover mark it out instantly against a crate of black kit. The venturi lever prevents an accidental free flow while it hangs unbreathed, and the Comfobite mouthpiece keeps it comfortable for someone breathing hard. It suits an ATX owner completing the rig with a matched backup.
