Back Plate Stainless

Description

A backplate is the one component every other part of a technical rig bolts to, so the slot pattern matters more than the badge. This one has four upper and four lower slots rather than the usual two, which holds a single cylinder laterally instead of letting it rock. On a shore dive that stops the cylinder walking sideways under a heavy wing. On a twinset it takes the load of two steel cylinders without flexing. On a rig being tuned three holes at the top set the height of the wing and the cylinder, and a lower centre slot rescues band bolts that do not line up. At 2.15 kilos the stainless plate is ballast worn on the spine, which comes straight off the weight belt and improves trim. Perimeter holes along both sides and the bottom take accessories. It suits a cold water or drysuit diver building a backplate rig.
