Backscatter M52 Wide Angle Wet Lens

Description

Wrecks, sharks and big reef scenes need width, and the Backscatter M52 Wide Angle Wet Lens takes an Olympus TG camera to 120 degrees so the diver can move in close and still keep the whole subject in frame. Getting closer cuts the water between lens and subject, which lifts contrast and colour in the shot. The lens was designed for 24 mm equivalent compacts and shows no vignetting and sharp corners at 24 mm, where many wet lenses need zooming to clear dark corners. The camera's zoom can still be used through it, up to about three quarters of the range depending on the camera, to tighten the framing without taking the lens off. It threads straight onto Olympus TG series 1 to 6 housings with no adaptor, the shade turns smoothly by hand, and an anti-reflection coating on the dome cuts flare. Rated to 100 m, it travels in its own hard case. It suits a TG shooter moving up to serious wide-angle work on wrecks and big animals.
