Bifocus Lens D-Mask

Description

Presbyopia arrives for most divers in their forties, and the first sign is a computer being pushed out to arm's length. A bifocal lens is the cheaper answer to that than a full prescription pair, because the magnification sits only in the lower portion of the lens, exactly where the eye goes to read a gauge, while the upper section stays clear so the reef remains sharp at distance. The lens drops into the D-Mask interchangeable lens system, which means the change happens at a kitchen table rather than at a service centre, with no optician and no adhesive. Three strengths are stocked, +1.0, +2.0 and +3.0, in left and right versions, and lenses are sold singly per eye so the two sides can differ. The correction is reading only: it carries no distance prescription and does not address astigmatism. It suits a diver who has started holding the computer at arm's length.
