Description

A solid cover would trap salt water against the steel and cause exactly the corrosion it was bought to prevent. Mesh does not: water runs straight through and the cylinder dries between dives, which is why the open weave matters more than the material. Beyond that it does the obvious job, stretching over a 10 litre body and staying there, standing between the paint and everything else on a boat deck. What takes a finish off a cylinder is abrasion rather than corrosion, and it happens between cylinders in a rack, in the back of a bakkie and against a ladder on the way out of the water. The net absorbs that wear, and intact paint is what keeps surface rust off the steel underneath. It fits over the body rather than the boot, so both can be used together. Rinse it with the cylinder and pull it off once a season to check the paint under it. It suits an owner of a 10 litre cylinder.
