Apeks Bungee Mount Compass

Description

A compass on a rigid strap is set at the surface and is loose by thirty metres, because neoprene compresses as depth increases and the arm underneath it gets thinner. An elasticated bungee mount takes that up, so the compass sits in the same place at the bottom as it did on the boat. On a navigation leg that means a heading sighted along the forearm rather than a compass that has rotated round the wrist. On a drysuit dive it holds over a thick undersuit and still tightens as the suit squeezes. On a shore dive it stays put through a surf entry. Wrist mounting also keeps it clear of a console, so the gauges stay clipped away while the heading is read. It suits a diver who navigates and does not want the compass buried in a console.
