Calypso Classic

Description

Aqua Lung's 2025 Buyer's Guide lists the Calypso as a large-diameter piston first stage with four medium-pressure ports and one high-pressure port, for cold or warm water, and this one comes with a 200 bar DIN fitting. That fitting matters more than it sounds. A 200 bar DIN connector has fewer thread turns than a 300 bar one and will not seat correctly in every DIN valve, so the cylinders it will be used on are worth checking before purchase rather than on the boat. The Calypso has been in the range for decades and is most often found on club and training sets, where simple construction and inexpensive servicing count for more than a published breathing figure. No work of breathing figure is published for this version. It suits a dive centre building a rental fleet, or a diver who values serviceability over specification.
