16 Inch Camera Arm

Description

Sixteen inches is a lot of arm, and it is bought for one reason: a big dome port. A wide-angle dome sees so much of the scene in front of it that a light on a short arm ends up inside the frame or lighting the water directly ahead of the glass, and no amount of angling fixes either problem. Reach moves the light out past the edge of the port and back, where its beam can cross in front of the dome instead of through it. The cost is drag and leverage, so this is the wrong arm for a compact rig and the right one for a housed body with a dome. It closes on standard one inch balls at both ends and works with third-party clamps. Shorter arms cover the rest of the range. It suits a photographer shooting wide angle behind a dome port.
