Description

Nothing on a light stick can be got wrong by the diver carrying it. No o-ring to pinch, no cell that went flat between trips, no switch to let water in, which is why one still travels on boats where everybody has an LED torch. It is snapped and shaken to start and works at any depth a recreational diver reaches. The trade is that it is single use: started once, then thrown away. The standard jobs are marking a shot line or a boat in the dark and identifying a diver on a night dive, and a stick on a cylinder valve or a snorkel makes a diver visible from behind, which a head torch cannot do. Six inches is the standard length. Break it on deck rather than once already in the water. Bag the spent stick and take it home, because a light stick left in the sea is litter that glows. It suits a night diver or a boat marking a shot line.
