DA-010 Base Plate Ball Mount

Description

A one inch ball is the closest thing underwater photography has to a universal standard, and this mount is what puts one onto a flat base plate. Once it is there, any clamp and arm system will attach, whatever brand it came from, which is why a ball mount is usually the first thing added to a tray that arrived without one. The advantage of a ball over a fixed fitting is that it articulates: a light can be aimed and locked at whatever angle a shot needs, then moved for the next one, rather than pointing wherever the plate happens to face. It is machined from T6061 aluminium, the grade Big Blue use across the accessory series for its salt water resistance. That answers a bare tray, a home-built rig and a mixed-brand setup. It suits a photographer adding a ball mount to a base plate.
