Descent S1 Buoy

Description

The Descent S1 Buoy answers the problem of nobody on the surface knowing where the divers are. It floats above the group, holds a GPS fix, and links down to paired Descent computers through SubWave sonar, so a boat can see the group's position while divers see the buoy's on the wrist. Three jobs follow from that. On a drift dive the skipper tracks the group rather than guessing at bubbles. On a shore dive it records the surface track a wrist computer cannot log underwater, so the site maps properly afterwards instead of as a straight line between entry and exit. And preset messages travel both ways, which matters when a support boat needs to move a pickup. Rated IPX8 to 10 metres, it runs up to 15 hours and carries a tether point for a downline. It suits dive operations, instructors and technical teams working from a boat. It needs a T2 transceiver to complete the link.
