Garmin Descent T2

Description

Knowing a buddy is low on gas usually depends on asking, and asking depends on being close enough to signal. The Descent T2 changes that by putting pressure and depth for up to eight divers on one paired computer, so a dive leader sees the whole team's gas without a single hand signal. It also carries preset messages between divers out to 30 m, which turns a separation into a message rather than a search. On a training dive an instructor watches every student's consumption in real time; on a technical dive a team tracks stage cylinders; on a guided reef dive the guide calls the turn on data rather than on a guess. Transmission uses SubWave sonar, an acoustic link built for water rather than adapted from radio, and battery life runs to 100 hours of dive time. One transceiver is needed per cylinder monitored. It suits a dive leader or technical team that wants shared gas data on the wrist.
