DiveVolk +8 Close-Up Wet Lens

Description

The closest a phone camera will focus is still too far away for a pygmy seahorse, and cropping afterwards throws away the detail that made the shot worth taking. This +8 dioptre wet lens shortens the focus distance so the phone can sit close to a small subject and still render it sharp, with the background dropping into soft blur. On a muck dive it is the difference between a speck on sand and a frame-filling nudibranch; on a reef it picks out polyps and the eyes of a blenny. It is a wet lens, so it screws off underwater and goes back on when the next small subject turns up. On a SeaTouch 4 Max Plus it mounts through the expansion clamp's 67 mm adapter, sold separately, and iPhone users need the phone's Macro setting switched off first. It also fits any compact camera housing with a 67 mm thread. It suits a diver moving from wide reef shots to small subjects.
