Description

Because the shell carries its own insulation, this suit is dived with a full undersuit in winter and a base layer in summer, which a membrane suit cannot offer. It is built from 4 mm high-density neoprene with latex seals at the wrists and neck, a hybrid of two approaches: the neoprene insulates while the latex grips better than neoprene at those two points. High-density neoprene also resists compression, so buoyancy shifts less between the surface and depth than in a foamed shell, and lower inherent buoyancy means less lead on the belt than a membrane suit of the same warmth. Entry is by a heavy-duty rear shoulder-to-shoulder metal zipper under a neoprene overflap, and a neoprene collar covers the latex neck seal to close the cold spot around it. Attached semi-rigid boots carry soft anti-slip soles, fin strap retainers and hook and loop straps that stop air migrating to the feet head-down. Both arms take wrist instrument mounts. Latex seals perish and are a service item. It suits a woman diving cold water in a drysuit.
