Description

A membrane suit without an undergarment freezes the diver; this one does not, because the shell itself carries insulation, so it runs with a full undersuit in Cape winter water and a light layer in summer. It is built from 4 millimetre high-density neoprene and sealed at the wrists and neck with latex, a deliberate pairing: neoprene insulates on its own, latex shuts down the seepage neoprene cuffs let past. High-density neoprene resists compression, so buoyancy shifts less between the surface and depth than in a softer foam. A neoprene warm collar covers the latex neck seal. A heavy-duty rear dry zip sits under a neoprene overflap, and Si-Tech valves fit a side-activated inlet and an adjustable outlet. Attached semi-rigid boots carry a non-slip sole, a fin strap retainer and a hook and loop ankle strap that stops gas migrating to the boots on a head-down descent, the fault that flips a diver feet-up. Six sizes run S to 3XL. It suits a man diving cold water in a drysuit.
