Big Blue Extendable Tripod Camera Tray

Description

Two things separate this tray from the plain extendable one. It widens, pushing the light mounts out sideways so their beams cross in front of the port rather than lighting the water directly ahead of it, which is how backscatter is dealt with rather than edited out. And it takes a tripod fitting, so the rig can be set down on a sand patch and left, which is the only practical way to film a shy subject that will not tolerate a diver hovering over it, or to get into the frame without a second person holding the camera. The two work together: a rig that stands on its own still needs its lights out wide. Standard and single-arm trays cover simpler rigs. That answers timid subjects, self-filming and long static shots. It suits a videographer who needs the camera to stand on its own.
