Description

Red light does two jobs that white light cannot. Most marine animals respond poorly to red, so a subject that bolts the moment a white beam lands on it will often tolerate a red one long enough to be watched or photographed, which is the whole approach to octopus, cuttlefish and anything nocturnal. Red also preserves dark adaptation, so a diver reading a gauge or a slate at night does not lose the night vision it took twenty minutes to build. This filter converts a 1300 or 1800 series torch into a red light rather than requiring a second one to be carried, and it comes off in seconds when white light is wanted again. It is the 35 millimetre size. It suits a diver approaching shy animals or working at night.
