Description

A large video head is exactly the wrong thing to point at a shy animal. Several thousand lumens of white light will empty a ledge before the camera is even up, which is why a red filter matters more on the big heads than on a pocket torch. Most marine life responds poorly to red, so a subject that bolts under white will often sit still under red long enough to be filmed. The same filter preserves a diver's own dark adaptation, which is worth having at night when a gauge has to be read without losing twenty minutes of night vision.
