Description
Green water and heavy particulate are the two conditions that make a bright white light worse rather than better. White light scatters off everything suspended between the torch and the subject, and the more output there is, the more of it comes back as a wall of glare. A yellow filter cuts the short wavelengths that scatter most, so less light bounces back and the water ahead looks clearer rather than brighter. It also warms the beam, bringing back some of the red that water strips out first and stopping footage of a kelp bed looking entirely monochrome. This one is the 44 millimetre size, fitting the VL4600P, VTL2900P, VL4600PB and VTL2900PB, and it clips off in seconds when open blue water makes it unnecessary. It suits a diver whose VL4600P or VTL2900P is scattering more than it is showing.
