FLEX-CONNECT 20CMRIG. BALL ARM

The SeaLife Flex-Connect 20 cm Rigid Ball Arm is a fixed-length arm in black anodised aluminium with 1 inch ball joints at each end. Rigid rather than flexible is the choice when a light must stay exactly where it was set, which is what stills work wants and what current demands.

Moving a light away from the camera is the standard fix for backscatter, since particles reflect light straight back into the lens when the light sits beside it. Used with a ball clamp and the two ball joint adapters, one arm builds a 15.5 inch extension, and a second arm adds a further 9.5 inches. Aluminium rather than polymer is what lets the arm hold a heavier photo-video light or strobe without flexing.

The result is an arm that carries weight and keeps an aim, which a flexible arm does not manage once a light gets big or a current picks up. A light locked off-axis stays off-axis for the whole dive.

Ball clamps are required and are sold separately, or the Ball Arm Kit supplies an 8 inch arm, two clamps and both adapters together. The Flex Arm is the flexible alternative for lighter light heads and faster aiming, adding 7 inches with 100 degrees of bend. The camera and the light are not included. Float rings add lift to a rig that a longer aluminium arm has pulled down.
