Description

Spring-loaded plates mean the clamp stays open while an arm is being fitted, which is a small detail with real value on a boat: a clamp that springs shut is a clamp that gets dropped. This is the piece that joins two 1 inch balls together, which is how a ball arm system is assembled at all. Loosening the wing nut lets both balls rotate freely for aiming and tightening it locks the position, so a light can be re-aimed mid-dive with one hand and left where it was put. It fits 1 inch, 25.4 mm balls, the size used across the wider underwater photography market rather than a SeaLife-only standard. Plates and wing-nut handle are aluminium in a hard coat two-colour anodised finish. Every joint in a ball arm system takes one, so the count rises with arm length. Rinse it in fresh water with the rest of the kit, because a wing nut dried salty is a wing nut that will not turn. It suits a photographer assembling or extending a ball arm rig.
