A frayed wishbone is one of the most common reasons a speargun band fails, and the Free Divers DIY wishbone is built to be replaced on the boat or at home without tools. It is a plug-in-and-go system, the same wishbone Free Divers supply as standard on their spearguns. A diver whose wishbone has worn through against the notches can swap it between dives. Someone making up new bands from a length of rubber can finish each one with a fresh wishbone. Keeping a couple in the dive bag covers a break on a trip, when a broken wishbone would otherwise end the day. It suits a spearfisher who rigs and maintains their own speargun bands and wants a quick, tool-free fix.
