Description
A float line keeps the speargun tied to a surface float, so a dropped gun or a fish that runs into the reef is not lost, and the float marks the diver's position for boats. Free Divers sell float lines in three lengths: 15m, 30m and 40m. The 15m line suits shallow reef and shore dives where the bottom is close. A 30m line covers most boat dives over reef in moderate depth. The 40m length gives room for deeper drops, or for a fish that runs before it can be controlled. The line clips between the float and the gun, often with a bungee or boingi in the system to absorb the shock of a running fish. Free Divers do not publish the line material. It suits a spearfisher setting up or replacing a float rig.
