Garmin Tactix 8 Solar

Description

Long trips far from a plug point favour a watch that charges itself, and the Tactix 8 Solar draws power from daylight through a Power Sapphire lens, reaching up to 48 days in smartwatch mode with solar. Garmin's tactical tools come with it, including stealth mode, a night vision mode, a kill switch and a preloaded Applied Ballistics solver. The dive mode is the Fenix 8's: single-gas scuba on air or nitrox up to 40% oxygen and apnea, both to 40 m, on Bühlmann ZHL-16c. A spearfisher camping on a remote coast for a week keeps the watch running without a charger. A diver who hunts in the off-season uses the solver in the bush. The Elite edition ships with the Applied Ballistics Elite solver in place of the Ultralight. The memory-in-pixel screen trades resolution for battery, and dive alerts are vibration only. It suits a diver who spends long stretches outdoors and off grid.
