HOSE PROTECTOR

The Aqua Lung hose protector is a moulded sleeve that slides over a low pressure hose where it meets its fitting. Hoses do not usually fail along their length. They fail at the joint, where the flexible part is clamped to a rigid one and every movement of the hose bends it at the same point.

The protector supports that transition, spreading the bend over a few centimetres of sleeve instead of concentrating it at the crimp. It fits any Aqua Lung low pressure regulator hose and slides on from the free end before the hose is connected, so fitting one to an existing hose means disconnecting it at the first stage. Beyond the mechanical job, a coloured protector marks a hose: a yellow sleeve on the octopus hose identifies the alternate air source at a glance in poor visibility.

The result is a hose that lasts longer and, in yellow, an octopus that a buddy can find without hunting for it.

Supplied in black or yellow, sold singly. Inspect the hose under the sleeve at each service, because a protector hides the crack it exists to prevent. Fitting one to a hose already in use means disconnecting that hose at the first stage, so it is a job for a service rather than a boat deck.
