Aqualung Hose Protector

Description

Hoses do not usually fail along their length, they fail at the crimp where the fitting is swaged on, because that is where the bending stress concentrates every time the hose is routed, coiled and packed. A hose protector is a sleeve that sits over that junction and spreads the bend across a longer section, which is the difference between a hose that lasts its rated life and one that starts weeping in its third season. It costs a fraction of a hose and a very small fraction of the dive that gets cancelled when a hose lets go on a boat. Fitting one at the point a hose is bought is the cheap moment to do it, rather than after the damage is visible. That answers a new regulator being set up, a rig being serviced, and a hose already showing wear at the fitting. It suits a diver protecting the part of a hose that actually fails.
