Description

Twenty centimetres is a deliberate length rather than a short one. It puts a gauge or a hose-mounted computer on the shoulder, right at the first stage, which is where a sidemount diver reads it and where a compact console belongs. A standard hose in that position leaves a loop of surplus to be tucked away, and a tucked loop is a snag. Pebax matters more at this length than at any other, because a 20 cm run has to turn tightly off the port without kinking, and rubber at the same pressure rating will not do it. High pressure hoses weep rather than burst, so a fine stream of bubbles at either swage is the signal to change one. It suits a sidemount rig or a shoulder-mounted gauge.
