IST Pro Ear Mask

Description

Water in the ears is the reason some divers stop diving, and the IST Pro Ear mask answers it by sealing each ear inside its own watertight cup. A tube and seal system links the cups to the mask, so when the diver exhales gently into the mask to equalise it, the ear cups are equalised too. IST designs the system to prevent pressure-induced ear ache, and keeping water out of the ear canal keeps the ears warmer and, the maker says, helps prevent infection. Divers who suffer from recurring ear infections after a week of boat dives are the obvious fit. With air around the ears, sound and direction also carry better underwater, which helps when a guide bangs a tank. The twin-lens mask sits on a wide neoprene head strap that holds the cups in place. The anti-fog version adds a film on the inside of the lenses that needs a rinse before each dive and no detergent. It suits divers with sensitive or infection-prone ears who want them kept dry and warm.
