Jet Fin with Spring Strap

Description

In production since 1965 and still what commercial, military and technical divers reach for, which is a long run for any piece of dive kit. The vented blade cuts drag on the upstroke and adds thrust on the downstroke, which is how a short rubber blade outperforms a longer plastic one. Rubber runs throughout, blade and foot pocket moulded as one piece, so there is no laminate to separate, and it tolerates years of sun and salt that would craze a thermoplastic blade. The blade is short and stiff at roughly 55 centimetres overall and a pair weighs 2.02 kilograms, making the fin negatively buoyant, which offsets air migrating into drysuit boots so trim settles without ankle weights. This version replaces the moulded rubber heel strap with a self-adjusting stainless steel spring strap, fitted from new. Four colourways run M to XXL, all listed as special order. Rubber is heavy in a suitcase, which rules it out for travel. It suits a drysuit, technical or working diver.
