Description
Rubber knife straps perish. They spend their life stretched around a calf, in sunlight between dives and in salt afterwards, and they fail by splitting at the buckle rather than by wearing thin, which means the knife is lost before anyone notices the strap was going. These are the standard replacement straps, supplied as a pair, so a sound knife and sheath stay in service rather than being replaced because the cheapest component gave up. Two straps is what a leg-mounted sheath uses, one above and one below the calf, and replacing both together keeps the tension even so the sheath does not rotate. Anyone who dives regularly is well served keeping a spare pair in a save-a-dive box, since a split strap is always discovered at the water's edge. They suit a diver replacing perished straps on a leg-mounted knife.
