Pairing happens at the counter, which is the practical reason to buy the pair in one box rather than separately: a diver leaving for Sodwana on Friday is not chasing a transmitter through the post. The transmitter screws into a high pressure port on the first stage and pairs to the computer once, after which cylinder pressure, true remaining bottom time and decompression all read off one screen. An LED on the transmitter estimates pressure before the computer is even woken, green above 1450 psi, yellow between 1450 and 725, red below, and coded transmission stops crosstalk between computers on a busy boat. Its CR-2PE/BN lithium cell is rated at two years or 250 to 300 diving hours. The computer is the Luna 2.0 AI, a thin oil-filled thermoplastic case with a widescreen black and white LCD and two buttons, running ZH-L16 ADT MB PMG or ZH-L16 with gradient factors across three gases to 100 percent oxygen in Scuba, Gauge and Apnea to 120 metres. It suits a diver who wants a complete air-integrated rig ready to dive.
