Magnetic Quick Clip

Description

Finding a bolt snap gate in thick gloves takes a look down and a second hand. This clip uses rare earth magnets instead: the two halves locate each other and pull together as they approach, so an octopus goes back onto the chest with the eyes still on the buddy, and a corrugated hose stops hanging vertically over the reef. Release is a sharp pull rather than a gate or a squeeze. Holding force is about 3 kilograms, and that figure sets the honest limit of the thing: it retains kit in place, it does not suspend it, so a heavy stage or a loaded camera rig still wants a bolt snap. The male half carries a saddle that fits a hose of any diameter with the supplied cable tie, including a corrugated inflator hose or an Air2, and a stainless steel split ring covers accessories with no hose to mount on. It suits a diver who wants to clip off without looking.
