Mares Magellan Travel BCD

Description

The heaviest part of most BCDs is the rigid backpack, and the Magellan leaves it out. With no hard backrest the whole jacket folds flat, and it weighs 2.0 to 2.3 kg depending on size. The back-mounted air cell is separate from the harness, so its 180 N (18.5 kg) of lift inflates behind the diver without squeezing the chest. Concave, pre-shaped shoulder straps are comfortable across the chest and suit female divers well, and the integrated quick-release weight uses the small pockets in XXS/XS and S/M and the large pockets in L/XL. Optional trim pockets fit the tank strap for finer balance, and a roll-up pocket adds storage. That covers a fly-in reef week, a liveaboard with a strict bag limit, and a diver who wants one jacket for home and away. It suits a diver who travels to dive and counts every kilogram.
