Mares Planet 88X + Magellan HD Set

Description

The Planet 88X is the regulator Mares built to rethink how a second stage breathes, and this set puts it on the Mares Magellan HD. The Planet 88X uses Airmatic technology, which replaces the springs in the second stage with a pneumatic valve driven by intermediate pressure, inside an all-metal case with a manual override. The 88X first stage comes in DIN with a TBP Dry Kit that environmentally seals it for icy or silty water, and weighs 786 g. The Magellan HD keeps its 180 N of lift behind the diver, splits lead between removable Standard System weight pockets and trim pockets, and comes in black or blue. An octopus is not part of the set, so one must be fitted before diving. That covers cold quarry and ocean dives, a drysuit diver who wants flat trim, and deep dives where breathing effort counts. It suits a diver who wants back-inflation trim and a regulator for cold, deep water.
