Mares Planet 88X + XR Rec Trim Set

Description

The Planet 88X is the regulator Mares built to rethink how a second stage breathes, and this set puts it on the Mares XR-Rec Trim single backmount set. The Planet 88X uses Airmatic technology, which replaces the springs in the second stage with a pneumatic valve driven by intermediate pressure, inside an all-metal case with a manual override. The 88X first stage comes in DIN with a TBP Dry Kit that environmentally seals it for icy or silty water, and weighs 786 g. The XR-Rec Trim brings a 17 litre, 160 N bladder that runs longer at the lower back, independent shoulder and waist straps and a skeleton aluminium backplate, all at 2.8 kg. An octopus is not part of the set, so one must be fitted before diving. That covers cold, silty wreck and quarry dives, extended range training, and a traveller who wants premium breathing on a light plate. It suits a diver who wants a top regulator on a trim-focused rig.
